Bamboo crafts

I have a lot of bamboo that needed thinning, so I began cutting the canes about an inch from each ending segment so there would be a natural plug at the top. I sanded them lightly, then began painting them, after taping them off with painter's tape to achieve a nice line. I decorated them freehand, using semi-Asian themes, then finished them off with two layers of polyurethane, dipping the top to make sure it was well coated.  I cut the bottom off at an angle so they're easier to stabilize in the ground. These are about five or six feet tall.
These were taken from the very top of the canes, so they look very delicate. I left some of the bamboo leaf stems and painted them green. They look like very weird flowers in my garden.

This is the first batch I tried.  The bold colors look good in a very jungly part of my garden.

I just used acrylic craft paints.  Whatever I had. Hope they stand up to weather.
